Assign tasks to multiple people at once
It would be really great to have the ability to assign a single task to more than just one person. Some tasks require collaboration between several individuals and I would like to be able to reflect that within Teambox

The philosophy behind Teambox is that only one person owns a task at the same time, and that task can be reassigned to the next person once it's complete.
There are a number of workarounds if you absolutely need teams to own tasks, like creating task lists per team and moving tasks to the Design task list, Development, etc.
Another nice feature Teambox has is to be able to @mention people involved, which you can do by just typing the username or by clicking on Add People.

Having just installed teambox as a trial this is the biggest single thing stopping us being able to use it effectively. Either we would need the ability to assign tasks to multiple people or to be able to group people together into a "team" and assign the task to the team (or both of course). From looking through the literature it seems as though Huddle supports the concept of assigning tasks to either individuals or to teams.

From a usability perspective, I understand why you're hesitant to add this, however for collaborative efforts, especially where a teamleader has assigned a task to two designers, this is NEEDED. Not fancied.
If usability is a concern, then have an administrative option to disable it.
It would only hypothetically be used where needed. It's not 'tagging' people in, it's making multiple people responsible for a task, which is currently happening, whether TeamBox supports it or not. -

I'd like to see this implemented as soon as possible as our team will often collaborate and work on a single task together -

For a lot of my projects this feature (or something like it) would make using the Teambox system better. Even if it was an option hidden away in some settings sub menu (to keep the basic system as simple as possible for the 90% that don't need it) it would be awesome.

And what about sub-tasks? Maybe this is the solution: a task, with several sub-tasks, and each one can have a different owner.

You are right, Isaac. We keep looking for the best way to address these cases.
So far, we found that having a main responsible worked very well in 90% of the cases. For example, two programmers might be working on the same task, but at the end one of them can assume the role of "owning" that task.
This works for most things except for time tracking. We are open to ideas, but we will always strive to keep the application as simple as possible.

I understand what you mean, micho, but what about tasks that truly are collaborative efforts? Such as, for example, a pair of coders who like to do their work in the "partner programming" style, or just do it for certain portions of a job. You can't really say that one starts, and then hands off the task to another.

I'd like to share our view on this, and where the challenge is to make it happen.
We believe that one task has only one responsible person. If something is to be worked on by several people, then it can be assigned to the first person and then be reassigned. This way it is clear who owns the task, and it can be displayed in the "My Tasks" pane.
Technically it's easy to implement multiple assigned persons, but we see it as a usability concern.

It would be very nice to have this feature. In our case we need some times that several persons work on a specific document, so it would be great to create a task and assign it to them.
